Overview:

Mafia The Old Country is a strategy based social deduction game where players are either assigned to be Mafia members loyal to the Mafia, or innocent Town. The group has to communicate, discuss, and accuse to try to identify and kill all of the claim-innocent Mafia before they outnumber the Town. It’s a classic social test of deception and perception.

What is Mafia The Old Country?

The gameplay is a battle of wits and understanding, the Mafia players each night will secretly remove Town players. The Town must identify the traitors through discussion by day, and vote to execute a suspect. Undercover Mafia will lie to conceal their true loyalty while the searching Town players attempt to put together clues to identify who the Mafia player is. The goal is to be the last faction standing.

Gameplay:

Sessions are played in alternating cycles of Night and Day. During the Night phase, all players close their eyes. The Mafia awakens in secret and picks a victim. The Day phase starts with the identification of that victim. All remaining living players then express their opinions loudly and debate to discuss their suspicions, and ultimately vote on the player they want to eliminate for an alleged crime.

The game continues this cycle of a Night killing followed by a Day execution. As the player count decreases and suspicions fly, the tension and pressure builds for the players. The game consists of only conversation and no game board or pieces. Victory is achieved, when either all the Mafia are eliminated or the remaining Town players on the board equals or is outnumbered by the Mafia playing.
