The world is very large and open. There are lots of ways to complete quests. You can talk your way out, fight various mobs, or steal your way to a conclusion. Your reputation plays a factor with different factions. The save system also provided a unique approach. The only time you save your game is by sleeping in a bed, or by drinking a specific potion. This creates a lot of importance in your decisions because you cannot save at any point.
