The game is also updated with new animal behaviors and more nuanced survival mechanics. This edition of the game continues the life of the wolf and includes the new Slough Creek episode, where you raise your pups and protect them from predators in a satisfying and honest simulation of life.
Gameplay:
As a solitary dispersing wolf, you begin the game in the Amethyst Mountain map. Your goals are to hunt elk, evade competitors like coyotes and black bears, and ultimately find a mate. The game provides a scent-based interface for tracking prey and navigating the expansive 3D world. To be successful depends heavily on a solid strategy, pack coordination, and mastering realistic wolf combat and hunting mechanics.
After finding a mate, the game gets more complicated and moves into the Slough Creek episode. You and your mate are tasked with setting a new home territory, selecting a den, and raising a litter of pups. Each of these tasks involve 1) hunting food for your growing family, 2) defending the den to raise your pups from threats like stranger wolves and grizzly bears, and 3) teaching your pups to survive. This is a significant expansion of the original survival gameplay and adds significant strategic depth.
